Fiber technologies
Which fiber goes into the blend is decided by the standard you are testing to and the hand feel the garment has to keep after fifty washes. Select a name to read how it behaves.
Nomex is a meta aramid. Under flame it does not melt or drip. It carbonizes and thickens, forming a char barrier. Kevlar is the para aramid alongside it, bringing tensile strength and dimensional stability.
PBI has no melting point and will not ignite in air. It stays supple after flame exposure rather than going brittle and is commonly blended with para aramid.
Twaron is Teijin's para aramid and Teijinconex is its meta aramid, filling complementary strength and thermal roles through a separate global supply chain.

Development
Most programs start with a target standard, a fabric construction, and a cost ceiling. We work backward from all three, spin trial yarn, and adjust the blend until the fabric does what the garment needs it to do.
